New York made their way into the final of the Lory Meagher Cup after a 1-29 to 2-13 win over Monaghan in Mullingar on Saturday.
Monaghan hurling manager Arthur Hughes had been critical of the decision to hand New York a semi-final spot in the competition without playing a game, branding it "an absolute disgrace".
And ultimately it was the team from the Big Apple that advanced past his team.
While Shane Slevin weighed in with two goals for Monaghan, a goal from Aidan James Willis as well as David Mangan's ten-point haul - four from play - proved instrumental in guiding New York to victory and onto a final date against Cavan which will throw in next Saturday at Croke Park.
