Kilkenny started their Leinster Under-20 Hurling Championship Tier 1 group stage campaign with a comfortable 1-13 to 1-06 win in Wexford.

The home side actually led at the break at St Peter's College, Simon Roche’s free ending up in the net to give them a 1-04 to 0-05 advantage.

The Cats dominated the second half though with Aaron McEvoy ending up with half a dozen frees to his name and Sean Bergin striking for their goal in the 44th minute of this Group 2 clash to help secure a seven-point win.

In Leinster’s Tier 2, Kerry defeated Carlow 2-23 to 2-12 at Netwatch Cullen Park - Liam Óg O'Connor with a stunning individual goal before Eoin O'Flaherty netted at the start of the second period.

There was also a win on the road for Antrim as they were 2-23 to 1-15 winners over Westmeath. Fiontan Bradley finished low to the net 14 minutes in to give them a foothold before Aodhan McGarry flicked over a defender and drilled home to send them on their way in the second half.

Antrim were also in action at U20 level in football as they drew with Fermanagh at Dunsilly in the Ulster Championship.

The two counties had suffered hammerings midweek, losing to Donegal and Tyrone by a combined 68 points, but this was a much more competitive affair.

Antrim started the brighter before a 1-02 burst helped the Erne County to a 1-06 to 0-07 half-time lead.

Eight points in a row seemed to send the Saffrons on their way to the win, but the visitors hit six of the last eight scores to secure a draw, 0-17 to 1-14.

Incredibly, Donegal hit 3-23 for the second time in four days, Down this time feeling the wrath of the Tír Chonaill attack with the Mournemen managing 1-11 in response.

Daithi Gildea and a Senan Carr, the latter with a penalty, gave Donegal a six-point interval advantage and while Eoghan Travers did grab a goal for Paul McCartan’s away side, Gildea added a second green flag to secure an another emphatic victory.
