Jackie Tyrrell has lauded the attacking options available to Cork, stating that the rest of the hurling world should be "very scared" as to what they are capable of unleashing.

On Saturday evening at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, the Rebels booked their place in the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A final with an emphatic victory over Galway. Of the 4-22 scored, 2-20 came from their much-vaunted forward division, this following on from the dismissal of Clare in the previous round where those up top found goals aplenty.

Tipperary now await in the top-tier decider, with Cork looking to end a wait of 27 years for a league crown.

Speaking on League Sunday, former Kilkenny star Tyrrell waxed lyrical about the array of talent that the Leesiders now have in attack.

"It's the quality of player they have and the level of workrate and intensity they bring," he said.

"You have a guy like Brian Hayes inside; he's a giant, so nimble on his feet. And then you have Tim O'Mahony and Shane Kingston, guys that are in devastating form. As for the options, you now have Seamus Harnedy coming in, along with Alan Connolly, Conor Lehane, Robbie O'Flynn and Diarmuid Healy.

"It's an embarrassment of riches. For the other counties looking in, you would be very scared of this Cork attack. They have got it all, the power, pace. In Shane Barrett, they have got one of the most beautiful hurlers and strikers of a ball in the country. It's devastating what they have at the minute and at the back they are not too bad either."

Fellow analyst Ursula Jacob also praised the Cork collective, while also looking forward to that final clash with Tipp.

She said: "Cork are really building a strong team and panel. Pat Ryan will be thrilled, they are becoming a really ruthless outfit and that is something that is really standing out.

"They are going for goals, going for points, the subs that are coming in are all making an impact. Tipp are the only team that have beaten them this year. The final should be a cracking game. Neither team will be holding back, with both teams craving that silverware and to then bring that form into the Munster Championship."
