The Cavan hurlers, who went six years without fielding and only rejoined the Allianz Hurling League in 2018, are into a Division 3A semi-final after last year's promotion from Division 3B.

The Breffni men enjoyed a 2-13 to 0-13 win over Monaghan and will now take on Sligo next weekend, who suffered a four-point defeat to table-toppers Mayo.

In the day's other game Armagh secured their first win when they had three points to spare at home to Louth.

Fermanagh made it four wins from four when they saw off a dogged Longford on a scoreline of 0-07 to 0-11, though the Leinster side still advance to a semi-final.

With the Erne County safely through to the 3A decider, it will either be another clash with Longford, or else Warwickshire, who had half a dozen points to spare over Lancashire at Páirc na hÉireann.
