Limerick star Kyle Hayes will miss his side's Allianz Hurling League clash with Westmeath after accepting a one-match ban for striking with minimal force.
The wing-back flicked his hurl at the helmet of Galway's Brian Concannon in Salthill last weekend but escaped sanction from referee Sean Stack, despite already being on a yellow card.
That meant that the Central Competitions Control Committee could review the incident and they deemed it 'Striking or attempting to strike with a hurley, with minimal force', which is a red-card offence and carries the automatic penalty of a one-match suspension.
Hayes would also face a two-match ban if he was to be sent off on a second Category III infraction this season.

Speaking on RTÉ's Allianz League Sunday, Kilkenny legend Tyrrell said: "You just have to think the ref Sean Stack and the linesman didn't see this because if they did, it's a red card every day of the week.
"He's on a yellow card and slaps back with the hurl straight into Brian Concannon's face."
The All-Ireland champions, who are heading to Portugal today for a week-long training camp, are currently third in Group A of Division 1 with four points from three games and travel to Cusack Park in the next round on Sunday 12 March.
