Cork forward Cian McCarthy has left the panel ahead of the county's Allianz Hurling League meeting with Tipperary on Sunday.
McCarthy (25), son of former dual-star Teddy, started the 2013 All-Ireland final replay to Clare but was mostly confined the bench during last year's Munster championship-winning campaign and has failed to force his way back into the team this year.
McCarthy made his debut for the Rebels in 2009.
"Cian has been a great servant to Cork hurling, but now wants to take a break from the inter-county scene due to work and other commitments," said Cork manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy.
"We are very sorry lose him but we respect his wishes and the door is open should he chose to return."
