Semple Stadium has failed a pitch inspection less than 48 hours before it was to host an All-Ireland club semi-final double-header.

"Saturday's AIB All-Ireland hurling club semi-finals have been switched from Thurles because the pitch at Semple Stadium is frozen and the forecast is for the adverse weather to continue," a statement from the GAA read.

The game between Portaferry and Kilmallock has been switched to Cusack Park in Mullingar, with a 2pm throw-in.

Gort v Ballyhale Shamrocks will now be played at O'Connor Park in Tullamore, also with a 2pm throw-in.

Sunday's Division 3 Allianz League game between Tipperary and Limerick has also been affected.

That game will now take place in Templetuohy at 2pm.
