Cork 1-18 UL 1-15
An experimental Cork side advanced to the quarter-final of the Waterford Crystal Cup with a 1-18 to 1-15 victory over UL at the CIT Sports Stadium.
Luke O'Farrell bagged 0-09 for the Leesiders and with one of newcomers, Dayne Lee finding the net, the home side were 1-11 to 0-04 to the good at the break.
However, the Students improved immeasurably after the break. Jason Forde, Tony Martin and Conor Martin found the range with good points and when Martin raised a green flag, it looked promising for the Limerick side.
JBM's outfit did find the necessary reserves and scores from O'Farrell settled their nerves as they ran out four-point winners. They will now face CIT in the last-eight of the competition next weekend.
