Clare hurling will have to plan without the services of Podge and Sean Collins after reports that the brothers have elected to play football in 2015.

The Irish Independent reports that the Collins brothers, who played both hurling and football this year, will play just football in 2015. Clare’s footballers are managed by their father, Colm.

The decision by the Collins brothers will be a serious blow for Clare hurling, and a major boost for football in the Banner.

Podge Collins won an All Star for his performances in Clare’s All-Ireland SHC-winning 2013 season.

A Clare County Board official told RTÉ Sport that he had heard nothing officially about the decision, but was aware of the media reports.

Until such time as Davy Fitzgerald announced his panel, the official said, the county board could not comment officially.
