Cork hurler Brian Murphy has informed management of his decision to call time on his inter-county career. He will, however, continue to play with his club Bride Rovers.
Murphy won two All-Ireland senior titles in 2004 and 2005 and was on the side that lost last year’s decider to Clare after a reply.
The 31-year-old was regarded as one of the best defenders in the modern era and was the recipient of an All Star award in 2006.
His decision to quit will be a blow to Rebels manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy.
