Former Armagh and Monaghan manager Mattie Lennon is poised to take over as manager of the Tyrone senior hurlers.
His appointment is expected to be ratified at the January meeting of the county board.
He will succeed Derry man Tom Magill, who held the position of the past four years.
Tyrone's hurling fortunes would appear to be on the up following their Lory Meagher Cup success in 2012 and a semi-final spot in last season's Rackard Cup.
