Cork manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy has called on his side to improve after a sluggish win over Waterford in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Semple Stadium.
The Cork legend told RTÉ after the game that he felt his side made hard work of the win in Thurles.
He said: “It was a good win in the end, but I do not think we played particularly well and we made heavy work of it at times.
“I thought we showed a bit of character at least to come back in the last 10 minutes when we looked to be in big trouble and we got some great points to edge us ahead but, as I said, I don’t think we played particularly well today.”
Barry-Murphy also felt that the changes made on the sideline had a big bearing on events as once again the energetic Rebel replacements contributed to a stirring finish.
The Cork boss stated: “The impetus of the subs coming in certainly seemed to help us as Waterford had the bit between their teeth at that stage. The wind was also a big help to us in the end.
“We are delighted to be in the semi-final but I don’t think our display today would trouble Galway to be honest.
“We will improve, I hope, for the win. Any win will bring a team on, and the manner of our win today was what most pleased me.”
