Waterford recall veteran Tony Browne for Munster final with Tipperary

Waterford have drafted veteran Tony Browne into their side to face Tipperary in Sunday’s Munster Hurling Championship final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The 39-year-old will take up his customary position at right half-back in place of Richie Foley.

Déise manager Michael Ryan has also included Noel Connors at corner-back ahead of Aidan Kearney, while Pauric Mahony gets the nod at wing-forward as Eoin Kelly drops out.

Browne made his senior inter-county debut way back in the national league of 1991.

He was at midfield for the Munster final of 1998 in what was a breakthrough year for the county.

Should Waterford prevail on Leeside, Browne will collect a fifth Munster medal in what has been one of the most incredible careers in GAA history.

Waterford (SH v Tipperary): Stephen O'Keeffe; Noel Connors, Liam Lawlor, Stephen Daniels; Tony Browne, Michael Walsh, Kevin Moran; Stephen Molumphy, Phil Mahony; Pauric Mahony, Seamus Prendergast, Maurice Shanahan; John Mullane, Shane Walsh, Gavin O'Brien.
