Tipperary hurling manager Declan Ryan was delighted to get past Cork but reluctant to talk about the challenge of Waterford in the Munster final.

The Premier County booked a place in the 15 July decider with a one-point win over the Rebels in Páirc Uí Chaoimh today but Ryan was keen not to speak about The Déise.

Asked about the proposition of facing Waterford in the final, Ryan said: “We’re delighted to be in a Munster final again. It’s a huge achievement to get into the Munster final. We’re just delighted to get out of Cork today.

“We don’t have a great record here over the years and we knew it was going to be a massive battle today. Full credit to Cork for the way they went about their business today. They are a credit to the GAA.”

However, when pushed, Ryan added that they will enjoy today’s victory before turning their minds to the next game.

“We’ll think about Waterford tomorrow. We have to let this one sink in first. Waterford in a Munster final – they’ll be going all guns blazing so a lot to look forward to,” he told RTÉ Sport.

Ryan also praised his team for their reaction after John O’Brien’s sending off.

“When Johno went off we lost our shape for a little bit. The guys dug deep and won a few 60/40, 40/60 balls. In the finish, they showed real character,” he added.
