Kilkenny may be boosted by the return of star forward Richie Power this weekend after a neck injury he picked up last week is not bad as initially feared.

Power was brought to hospital in the wake of his side’s victory over Offaly last weekend and there had been concerns that he had suffered serious damage.

However, scans confirmed that he had escaped major injury and County selector Martin Fogarty revealed that he could feature against Tipperary this Sunday.

‘He's okay. He was stunned for a while and he was taken to hospital as a precaution - you can't take a chance with that type of injury,’ Fogarty said.

‘I don't know if he will be able to play at the weekend. We will have to see how he's doing during the week.’
