Three players from Galway club side Mullagh could be hit with 48-week suspensions following last week's county hurling semi-final against Loughrea.
The east-Galway team were bidding to qualify for their first county final since 1966, but the game ended in controversy when the referee awarded a match winning free to Loughrea in the closing stages.
Referee Christy Helebert has claimed that he was assaulted after the game.
