Kerry are on the hunt for a new hurling manager after Mossie Carroll announced his decision to step down from the post.
Carroll, who took over from Pat Heffernan, endured a tough season in which the Kingdom lost their NHL Divison Two status and were beaten by Carlow in the semi-final of the Christy Ring cup.
County Board chairman Jerome Conway said: 'Mossie Carroll took the job for one year and was totally committed to the job of work from a physical point of view and a hurling point of view.
'Unfortunately Mossie has found the travelling too much because he was in the car between five and six hours every time he came to training and he found that excessive and wearing.
'He has decided to take a break so we thank him and wish him well.'
