Joe Canning has been named in the Galway team to face Kilkenny in Saturday’s Leinster SHC semi-final, while Noel Hickey and James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick failed to make the Cats line-up.

Canning had been struggling with stomach and groin problems but has overcome those to take his place at full forward. Elsewhere, elder brother Ollie comes back in a left corner back – Kevin Hayes is out due to suspension.

Kilkenny have been hit by the double loss of Hickey and Fitzpatrick. Hickey is out with a knee injury and JJ Delaney now moves to the edge of the square, while Fitxpatrick’s omission due to a broken bone in his hand sees Michael Fennelly named captain and Michael Rice named in midfield.
