Galway hurling manager John McIntyre is sweating over the fitness of Joe Canning ahead of Saturday’s Leinster SHC clash with Kilkenny in Tullamore.

Canning agrivated a stomach/groin injury during a county training camp last week and has been out of action since then.

The Portumna star has been troubled by the injury for several months now and has been getting through games thanks to painkilling injection but this latest flare up may prove to be too serious to play though.

McIntyre will give Canning every chance to prove his fitness, and will not make a decision on him until the morning of the historic clash with the Cats.
