Justin McCarthy has been appointed as the new Limerick hurling manager.
McCarthy - who stepped down as Waterford boss during the recent Championship - was tonight appointed for an initial two-year stint.
He endured a tough year with the Déise as he was under intense pressure before his resignation.
Now he is back in hurling and looking to revive the fortune of Limerick hurling after a poor Championship.
Ciaran Carey, Brian Ryan, Tom Ryan and Pat Fleury had earlier withdrawn from contention for the job so Limerick County board were left with a six man shortlist and they chose the former Waterford manager.
