All Star goalkeeper Davy Fitzgerald is believed to be on the verge of a return to the Clare senior hurling panel.
Fitzgerald quit the panel last year because of personal disagreements with the then manager Tony Considine, but according to reports from the county on Friday night, he is ready to hurl for the Banner again under new manager Mike McNamara.
The Sixmilebridge clubman picked up a bad finger injury playing against Crusheen in the Club Championship recently, but is hoping that specialists will give him the go-ahead to return to training in the coming weeks.
It is understood that he may take his place between the posts with the county again as early as February.
Fitzgerald is also in charge of the Limerick IT side that will play Clare in the Waterford Crystal Cup quarter-final next weekend.
