Mike McNamara has been confirmed as the new manager of the senior Clare hurling team after his appointment was ratified by the county's selection committee.
The former All-Ireland winning trainer of 1995 and 1997 received the unanimous backing of delegates at a meeting of the County Board last night and will replace Tony Considine.
McNamara has been appointed for an initial one year team and will announce his selectors in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the Clare footballers will be managed by Frank Doherty, who guided Caltra to the All-Ireland club title in 2004.
James Hanrahan and Kieran Kelleher, who were members of the Clare team that won the 1992 Munster Championship, have been named as Doherty's selectors.
