The Galway County Board have handed out penalties today to Loughrea and Portumna GAA Clubs after reviewing video evidence of their recent county hurling final clash.
A special sub-committee of the county board revealed its findings into the violence which marred the county decider, and sanctioned selected players and officials from both clubs.
Portmuna's Davie Canning was handed a 12 week suspension, but there was no action taken on the alleged stamping of Davie's younger brother Joe.
Club Secretary Sean Treacy and Team Manager Jimmy Heverin have been banned for 12 weeks for comments they made to the media.
Meanwhile, Johnny Dooley of Loughrea has been suspended for four weeks, and will miss the Connacht Club Hurling Final against Athleague on sunday week.
Both clubs were fined €500 each.
