Speculation rife over Galway hurling job

Speculation about the new Galway senior hurling manager is mounting as Conor Hayes has asked not to be considered for re-appointment to the post.

Six names will be formally nominated at the County Board meeting next Thursday.

It has been reported that Clare legends Ger Loughnane and Davy Fitzgerald will be among the names nominated, but Loughnane has denied that has had any contact with the Galway board.

Galway minor boss Matt Murphy, Pat O'Connor from Loughrea, and former All-Stars Seán Treacy and Seán Silke are also expected to be nominated.
