Cork’s dreams of a clean sweep of provincial hurling titles ended tonight following a 3-11 to 0-13 defeat at the hands of goal-hungry Tipperary in the Erin Munster Under-21 hurling final.

Darragh Egan was the star man in Thurles, as he hit 1-03 in the first half and teed up further goals for Darragh Hickey (46 minutes) and Ray McLoughney (47).

A strong run from James Woodlock allowed Egan score on 13 minutes. But Cork were only four points in arrears at the interval, thanks to three Patrick Cronin points.

Croke Park hero Cathal Naughton helped close the gap to two points but Tipp raced clear to claim their third Under-21 title in four seasons.
