Limerick captain TJ Ryan has retired from inter-county hurling following last weekend's Guinness All-Ireland SHC quarter-final defeat to Cork at Semple Stadium.
The 32-year-old has hung up his boots after 12-years involvement with the Treaty County's senior hurling panel.
Ryan made his debut against Cork in 1994 and played corner forward in the famous All-Ireland final defeat to Offaly that autumn. The Garyspillane clubman also featured in the corner against Wexford when his side lost the 1996 All-Ireland final.
Ryan was a versatile performer and a fixture in the team throughout his inter-county career in both defence and attack.
Last year he led Garyspillane to their first ever senior county championship title. Ryan's brother, Donie, will continue to play for the Limerick senior hurlers.
