The death has occurred in Limerick of Dr Richard Stokes, winner of an All-Ireland medal in 1940 and holder of a NHL medal.
Dr Stokes, who was 85, was a native of Pallasgreen.
He was selector on the Limerick senior hurling team which last claimed the All-Ireland in 1973.
He also played senior football with the county.
