Gareth Ghee sent Longford through into a Nicky Rackard Cup quarter-final against Tyrone as he hit a goal and ten points in his side's 2-14 to 1-14 play-off defeat of Armagh this afternoon.
Wing forward Ghee and company needed extra-time to see off the Orchard men, with most of the scoring having been done at the end of normal time – Longford boasted 2-9 by the finish in Clones, Armagh had 1-12.
Eoin Donnellan mustered a sixth-minute goal for Longford, Ghee tallied up the majority of his eight frees in normal time, while Paul Brean was on his way to top-scoring for the Ulster men with 0-7 (0-5f).
A meeting with Tyrone, the Group A runners-up, rewarded this season's NHL Division 3 Shield winners at the full-time whistle, with Donegal, Louth and London the three sides already through to the third-tier competition's semi-finals.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Dessie Hamilton’s Meath footballers progressed to the All-Ireland JFC final thanks to a 1-18 to 0-6 semi-final beating of London in Navan.
London, who lived off Niall Clinton scores, had Offaly midfielder Gus O'Brien red-carded in the second half for a foul on Gordon Hynes, a first cousin of Meath senior Graham Geraghty.
The Royals will face either Cork or Sligo, who clash on Friday, in the decider as they seek a sixth title at this level.
