Darren Stamp is likely to be fit for Wexford's Leinster Senior Hurling Championship semi-final against Laois on June 12.
The Oulart-the-Ballagh defender missed out on his club's opening county senior hurling championship game last Saturday due to a badly injured hand, with Team Manager Seamus Murphy at first fearing the worst.
But Murphy is confident he'll be fit and said: "Gladly no bone has been broken. The x-rays came back clear but the hand is still badly swollen. He has been ordered complete rest but he should be able to make the semi-final."
Meanwhile Murphy is still not sure of the position of outstanding attacking newcomer Nigel Higgins.
"We have still to sit down with Nigel and try and work something out. He's still in the squad, which is the main thing but his work commitments make it difficult for him to attend every training session. He has been hugely impressive all season so you can understand the reason we are anxious to try and facilitate him. We'll know something more in the coming days."
