Tipperary All-Star Eoin Kelly almost single-handedly won the Datapac Fitzgibbon Cup title for Limerick IT this afternoon, as they edged neighbours University of Limerick 2-13 to 3-05.

Kelly - who missed the Premier county's National League win over Limerick last Sunday with a hamstring strain - was in imperious form, hitting 1-08 as Davy Fitzgerald's men claimed LIT's first ever Fitzgibbon title.

The Mullinahone marksman started by banging home a 4th-minute goal from a 21-metre free, and together with Kieran Murphy and Barry Nugent, he ensured a 1-09 half-time tally for the home side.

UL, in reply, boasted 2-01, with Niall Moran's fortunate 11th-minute goal - a 70-metre free which arched in under the LIT crossbar - and Paul O'Flynn's net-buster ten minutes later, being their highlights.

Kelly continued to prosper up front on the restart, in tandem with Galway's Niall Healy. Moran did his best for UL, but John Henaghan's late goal was little more than a consolation.
