Delegates attending the special meeting of the Offaly County Board tonight unanimously approved the appointment of John McIntyre as manager of the county's senior hurling team.
The appointment is for a three-year period and he will appoint his own selectors.
McIntyre previously held the post for one year in 1997, but following defeat by Wexford in the Leinster SHC semi-final he was succeeded by Babs Keating.
