Pat Heffernan has been called up to the Limerick senior hurling squad after an absence of eight years.
New Limerick manager Pad-Joe Whelahan is hoping the Blackrock player will bring experience to his young side.
Heffernan was on the team that lost to Offaly in the 1994 All-Ireland hurling final, and the following season saw his last appearance for Limerick.
Adare's Tim Houlihan, last year's first choice goal-keeper, and the versatile Eoin Foley have not been called up to the squad.
