Dublin edge out Laois in replay thriller in Kilkenny

Dublin beat Laois 3-11 to 0-15 points in another thriller in the Leinster Senior Hurling Quarter Final replay in Nowlan Park today. Joe Phelan of Laois opened the scoring with a point on five minutes, after Dublin had racked up their third wide of the match so far. Dublin then scored a point and then a goal from Tomás McGrane. The closeness of the match was reflected in the half time score, 1-04 to 0-06 in favour of the Dubs.

In the second half Dublin scored yet another goal through Tomás McGrane. Laois began the process of pinning Dublin back with points and eventually levelled the match with a point from Michael McEvoy, then going ahead by one point before Dublin scored a third goal through Ger Ennis to go 3-06 to 13 points ahead. Laois refused to give up, however, continuing to notch up points as Dublin went for goals. However, as the game progressed Dublin began to extend their lead with more and more of their shots at goal finding their way between the posts rather than adding to their massive tally of wides. The Dubs ran out comfortable winners in the end, but for most of the match they had to battle to stay ahead of a plucky Laois side.
