Kilkenny forward DJ Carey is set to be out of action for up to six weeks after breaking a finger during a challenge game for his club Young Irelands yesterday. Carey, who won his record equalling 9th All Star award last November, had played a part in Kilkenny's opening game of the Allianz League against Waterford eight days ago.
It is expected that DJ will be back in time for the climax of the league season, but he is definitely ruled out of their next three Division 1A games against Galway, Laois and Clare respectively.
