Kilkenny’s hurlers defeated Offaly by 4-13 to 1-13 after extra time in the Walsh Cup while Dublin’s hurlers overcame Laois in Croke Park. Kilkenny were level at 1-12 apiece at the end of the first half of extra-time, before Kilkenny went on to secure an easy win with goals from Martin Comerford, John Hoyne and Eddie Brennan.
The sides had been level at 1-10 each at the end of normal time. Earlier in the day, Dublin's hurlers got off to a good start with a 2-11 to 1-09 win over Laois in Croke Park.
In the Kehoe Cup, Louth defeated Monaghan by 1-09 to 1-05 in Termonfeckin and Kildare defeated Longford 1-15 1-10 in Naas.
