Cork players call off their strike

The Cork senior hurlers and footballers have called off their strike, following a five hour meeting with the Cork GAA board last night, which saw the board agree to several of their demands.

The players are now to receive improved access to medical and physiotherapy care, as well access to six gymnasia throughout the county. A Cork teams support fund will also be established to channel corporate support towards the Cork inter county teams.

In addition the Cork GAA board will back demands from the players for improved travelling expenses and ticket allocations as well compensation for players for loss of earning.

It is understood these issues are to be raised with the central council of the GAA.
