Athenry march on with rout of Sean Treacy's

Connacht champions Athenry from Galway coasted into the semi-finals of the All-Ireland hurling club championship with an emphatic 4-15 to 0-05 victory over Sean Treacy's of London in Ruislip. Sean Treacy's cause wasn't helped when they were reduced to 14 men after Mick O'Hara sending-off with just two minutes gone.

The visitors led by 4-05 to 0-03 at half-time with the prolific Eugene Cloonan registering all of Athenry's scores, four goals and three of the points from play and two free kicks. Galway inter-county star Cloonan added a further four points after the break to take his total to 4-09, while the home side failed to score from play in the whole game with Timmy Moloney scoring all 5 points from frees.

The game was stopped for ten minutes in the second-half when an emergency services helicopter had to land on the pitch to rescue a sick child from a nearby housing estate.

Meanwhile, Cork claimed their second All-Ireland Intermediate Championship title with a 3-06 to 1-10 win over Antrim in a hugely exciting game.
