Lane replaced by Hayes in Galway

Noel Lane has lost his job as manager of the Galway county hurling team and has been replaced by the inexperienced Conor Hayes who has been given a 2-year term in the post. Galway have not won the All-Ireland title in 14 years. Hayes was the captain in 1987 and 88, while the Kiltormer man also appeared in 6 All Ireland finals.

Meanwhile, former All Star John Considine is expected to be named as the new Cork Hurling manager.
