Tipp minors too strong for Wexford

A skilful Tipperary side outclassed Wexford by 4-13 to 0-13 to progress to the final of the All-Ireland minor hurling championship at Croke Park today. Forward Willie Ryan was the star of the show with an impressive tally of 2-05, with the pick of his first-half goals resulting from a stunning solo run from Evan Sweeney. Trevor Ivars also hit the net to give Tipp a 3-07 to 0-08 advantage at the break to leave Wexford with plenty to do in the second-half.

To their credit, the Model County improved significantly on the restart and thanks to Richard Flynn's nine-point haul and the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Brendan Flynn, Wexford kept their opponents in sight. However, the Premier County always looked in control and the result was put beyond doubt when Pat Short struck late in the second-half to complete a four-goal victory for Tipp.
