Commanding Clare gave youthful Dublin a lesson in hurling with an emphatic 3-22 to 1-08 victory in a one-sided Guinness All-Ireland qualifier at Parnell Park this evening. Clare, who were unlucky to lose their opening Munster Championship clash with All-Ireland champions Tipperary by just two points, were always in control despite Dublin scoring an early goal, and in the end goals from Niall Gilligan, Gearóid Consadine and Conor Earley confirmed their superiority over a disappointing home side.
In the day's other qualifier, Offaly eventually overcame a dogged Meath side to run out convincing 1-20 to 1-11 winners at Navan.
