Liberty Square in Thurles is pedestrianised for most of the night to accommodate the thousands of supporters gathered in the town to cheer on the new All-Ireland hurling champions. The Tipperary team arrived by open-top bus to the Square earlier, which was followed by a civic reception.
Galway also returned home this evening having seen two of their three-pronged assault on the season's Championship honours end in disappointment yesterday.
Meanwhile, Thurles will be the venue for the annual GOAL Challenge on Wednesday evening between the All-Ireland champions and Clare. The throw-in at Semple Stadium is at 6.00pm.
