Wexford ease through to final

Wexford have progressed to the Leinster final following a comprehensive 0-17 to 0-10 victory over Laois at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon. Wexford largely dominated proceedings in the first half and were 0-7 to 0-0 points ahead after 15 minutes with Paul Codd notching three of those scores. It took Laois 20 minutes to score with a free from David Cuddy and Darren Rooney got their second point five minutes later to leave it 0-8 to 0-2.

Ten minutes before half time, David Cuddy, Darren Rooney and Damien Culleton narrowed the arrears to 0-9 to 0-5. Codd replied for Wexford, stretching their lead when he slotted over another score from a free.

Just six minutes after the restart, Laois had narrowed the gap to two points, through David Cuddy and Joe Phelan. However Wexford then stepped up a gear and controlled the game until the finish. A number of converted frees from Codd, and fine efforts from Rory McGrath and Michael Jordan, left the score to 0-15 to 0-8 after 20 minutes. Cuddy replied with a free but Codd then added two more frees. James Young got the last score of the game for Laois on full time to leave it 0-17 to 0-10 at the finish.
