More postponements in NHL

Gaelic games have once again been hit by the worsening foot and mouth outbreak, following the postponement of two more fixtures in the Allianz National Hurling League this weekend. Carlow's Division 2 clash with Down in Ballycran was the first to fall by the wayside with Wicklow's trip to Armagh also shelved because of fears surrounding the disease.

Carlow have also announced the postponement of Sunday week's home match with Armagh, while Laois will be expected to make a similar decision over their Division 1 clash with Derry north of the border after a meeting tonight.

At the moment all counties who postpone ties will forfeit all three points, a move that could have disastrous effects on the promotion/relegation battles. However, with several counties expected to follow suit and abandon potentially risky encounters with affected counties, the GAA are sure to come under intense pressure to review the situation. London and Louth have already abandoned all competition for the present season.
