GAA: Central Council scrap hurling leagues

There were major changes announced by the Central Council of the GAA today, with the decision that the Oireachtas Hurling Tournament and the South East Hurling League will both be scraped this year. In a much-anticipated move, the All-Ireland B championships have also been discontinued for this year, while the Railway Cup competitions have been retained.

Meanwhile, in the Allianz National Leagues, there were victories for the hurlers of Kildare and the Tipperary footballers this afternoon. Kildare beat Carlow 2-14 to 1-04, while Tipperary beat Waterford 0-14 to 0-12.
