All-Ireland champions Kilkenny have cleaned up at this evening's Eircell Hurling All-Star awards, with nine representatives on the team. Inspirational foward DJ Carey picked up his eighth All-Star while the Cats' captain Willie O'Connor won his fourth award. Noel Hickey, Eamonn Kennedy, Denis Byrne and Henry Shefflin all picked up their first All-Star. The only other player to pick up his first award was Tipperary's John Carroll. Cork and Tipperary both picked up two All-Stars while Galway and Offaly had one representative each on the team.

The players were presented with their awards at a gala dinner at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin earlier this evening. The winners of the Eircell All-Star Football awards, announced on Wednesday, were also presented with their trophies tonight. The Hurling and Football players and young players of the year were also presented with their awards tonight. The Young Player of the Year in hurling was Kilkenny's Noel Hickey while in football, it was Joe Bergin of Galway. The winners of the senior awards were Kilkenny's DJ Carey and Kerry's Seamus Moynihan.
