Ireland are eyeing a semi-final spot at the EuroHockey Championships in Monchengladbach, however, they will have to overcome the odds to make it through to the final four.
Gareth Grundie's side have lost their opening two games to Netherlands and France, and will now have to beat hosts, Germany, by two goals to have a chance of progressing.
Germany beat France in their opening game, and while they are ranked higher than Ireland, Grundie's side will take hope following their opponents' 5-1 capitulation to Netherlands.
The Irish will also need results elsewhere to go in their favour, and they will be hoping that Netherlands can beat France in their final group game. That match takes place just before the Ireland v Germany fixture this evening.
Netherlands have won both of their opening games and will secure top spot by avoiding defeat in their final pool game.
Belgium, England, Scotland and Spain are competing for the other two semi-final places from Pool B.
