Beth Harper and Chloe Watkins have been recalled to the Irish hockey squad ahead of next month's Olympic qualifiers in Spain.
Head coach Sean Dancer has named the pair in his 18-player squad after they spent time away from international hockey due to injury and work respectively.
The tournament, held in Valencia between 13-21 January, is the final opportunity for countries to reach the Olympic Games in Paris.
Ireland finished tenth at their first appearance at the Games in Tokyo, which they qualified for by beating Canada in a penalty shootout in 2019.
This time around, eight countries will be competing for three qualification spots, and Ireland would need to finish at least second in their pool and win a semi-final or the third-place play-off to guarantee a spot in Paris.
Dancer’s side, ranked 13th in the world, are in Pool A alongside Belgium (ranked fourth), Korea, who are one place ahead of Ireland in the rankings, and Ukraine (28th).
Ireland begin their series of games against Belgium on 13 January, followed by Ukraine two days later, before completing their group stage against Korea a day later.
"As a whole group we have used September to December to prepare differently," Dancer said. "Trying to use development opportunities to make specific gains for individuals. This has not only provided a change of stimulus, but also helped challenge the group in different ways."
"We have seen an increase in competition for places, which is credit to the group’s progress and individuals’ determination to succeed."
"We are excited to have Beth Harper and Chloe Watkins back with us, after extended time away for injury and work. They join seven other players that where part of the team that qualified for the Olympics in 2019. They add valuable experience that we will need."
"We have done all the hard work, and we are now ready to go and compete."
