Pegasus staged an incredible comeback in their top of the table clash with Pembroke in the women's EY Irish Hockey League on Sunday, claiming a 4-3 victory in an enthralling contest at the Dub.
Shirley McCay struck the winner at the death for the reigning champions, crowning the day as they once again had to dig deep to land the spoils.
Last week, they came from 2-0 to beat UCD, but they were even further behind on Sunday.
Alice Ward, Amy-Kate Trevor and Aisling Naughton scored to put Pembroke in what appeared to be complete control, but once again it wasn't enough.
Lucy McKee gave Pegasus a lifeline, before Niamh McIvor continued her sensational form with the second. Alex Speers equalised, setting McCay up for the grandstand finish.
The win puts them three points clear of second placed Pembroke who were joined on 12 points by Old Alex. The Milltown side were inspired by Nikki Evans who netted twice in the first half either side of an Orna Bools goal for a 3-0 lead at Cork Harlequins.
Quins summoned two second half goals from Niamh O’Leary and Emma Barber but too late to change the outcome.
UCD also moved up a notch with a 3-1 derby win over Muckross. Niamh Carey finished off in the first minute for the students to set them on their way. Charlotte Cope added the next before Estelle Hughes got one back but Hannah McLoughlin copper-fastened the win in the third quarter.
The other two games from this round were postponed due to players being involved in the Irish indoor side who are currently in South Africa amid a six-test series.
