Ireland 2-0 Canada

The green machine made it three wins from three against fellow Rio-bound opponents Canada at Pembroke Wanderers HC in Dublin on Sunday afternoon.

The first half was scoreless with Ireland having the best of the chances from couple of PCs but they failed to find the breakthrough.

Ireland eventually took the lead in the 24th minute after good work involving Lee Cole and Peter Caruth who set up Timmy Cockram for the finish.

The third quarter was scoreless with both sides creating chances, before Kyle Good made it 2-0 after 47 minutes from open play.

They could have scored again minutes later after a great overhead from Ronan Gormley but Good's effort flew over.

James Carr, in the Irish goal, made a great save from Canadian captain Scott Tupper to see out the quarter.

The final quarter was end to end but there were no further goals as the hosts closed it out. The sides meet for the final time on Tuesday at 11am at Trinity Sports Grounds at Santry Avenue.
