Ireland beat world no 10 side Pakistan 1-0 in Antwerp today to advance to the Hockey World League fifth-place play-off and keep their dream of reaching Rio 2016 alive.
Alan Sothern scored the game's only goal shortly into the fourth quarter.
Ireland, ranked 14 in the world, will face the winners of this afternoon's meeting between Malaysia and France on Sunday (midday Irish time) to decide fifth place in the tournament, which could be good enough to secure a place at next year's Olympic games.
